A rare type of cancerous tumour that grows within the skull base and spine.

Neurofibromatosis

Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder whereby tumours form on nerve tissue.

Syringomyelia

Syringomyelia is a fluid filled cyst (syrinx) that has developed within the spinal cord.

Brachialgia

Brachialgia is compression or irritation of nerve roots of the cervical spine.

Cervical myelopathy

Compression of the spinal cord and nerves in the neck which supply the shoulders and arms.

Cervical radiculopathy

Cervical radiculopathy is compression of a spinal nerve root in the neck.

Cervical spine stenosis

Cervical spine stenosis occurs when the spinal canal narrows in your neck.

Dural fistula

A vascular anomaly in the membrane surrounding the brain and spinal cord.

Facet joint syndrome

Facet joint syndrome is caused by the degenerative changes in your spine.

Lumbar disc prolapse

Also know as a slipped disc, lumbar disc protrusion, bulging disc or herniated disc.

Failed back surgery syndrome

New or persistent pain after previous back surgery.

Lumbar spine stenosis

Lumbar spine stenosis occurs when the spinal nerve root passage narrows in your back.

Metastatic cord compression

Compression of the spinal cord, nerves or nerve roots due to a tumour.

Pars defect

A pars defect is a condition affecting the lumbar (lower) spine. 

Sacroiliac joint pain

SI joint pain starts in the lower back, radiates down to your hips, legs, buttocks and thighs.

Spinal cord cavernoma

A cavernoma is a gathering of abnormal blood vessels located in the brain and spinal cord.

Spinal dysraphism

Lipomyelomeningocele, myelomeningocele, Spina Bifida, diastematomyelia. 

Spinal meningioma

A tumour arising from the thin membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord.

Spinal trauma

Spinal trauma can be divided in to spinal cord injury and spinal fractures.

Spinal AVM

Arteriovenous malformation is an abnormal cluster of vessels in the spine

Spondylolisthesis

Spondylolisthesis is when a bone in the spine slips forwards relative the one below it.

Tarlov cysts

Tarlov cysts are sacs in the spinal cord filled with cerebrospinal fluid.

Tethered cord

The bottom end of the spinal cord is fixed, so that it can't move freely inside the spine.

Thoracic disc herniation

Also know as a slipped disc, lumbar disc protrusion, bulging disc or herniated disc.

Vertebral compression fracture

When the weight bearing, block-like part of the vertebra (spine bone) becomes compressed
